Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
